If my bagggage is checked in to IKA, I do not need to leave the transit area and do not require the expensive transit visa. If I book the two legs separately (8 hr connection) will BA consider this an exceptional circumstance and allow through check-in?

Thanks
I should add, in case this changes things... this LHR-DME-IKA leg is part of a much longer RTW booking using multiple partner carriers so the whole thing will be under one booking. Does that improve my case? BA is currently pricing my itinerary so not sure if they'll end up calculating it as a through booking anyway, it is impossible to get them to explain how they are calculating points and tax for this!
