Will BA allow interlining baggage through DME to aid visa free transit?

LHR-DME is £17.5 tax
DME-IKA is £5.5
LHR-DME-IKA is £150

If my bagggage is checked in to IKA, I do not need to leave the transit area and do not require the expensive transit visa. If I book the two legs separately (8 hr connection) will BA consider this an exceptional circumstance and allow through check-in?

Thanks
