Matthew, you can't transfer them to another program, but you can use them to get mileage tickets on any of the partner airlines. This includes AA, BA, NWA, TWA, CO, KLM and Qantas (and, of course, Alaska--AS).

My experience has been that the AS miles are the best when it comes to redemption possibilities. I have had far greater success with them than with UAL.
