Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I've looked all over alaskaair.com and couldn't understand their redemption process for other airlines. The question is: if I have a balance of AL miles, can I transfer those miles to get miles on another airline, or is it possible to combine AL miles with miles on a partner airline, to get a reward ticket on the partner (a la USAir and AA)? From what I could gather, it seemed that miles were only redeemable for tickets on other airlines.

The reason I'm asking is because I have a small surplus of AL miles and have no idea what to do with them. I would also do some AL promotions if I thought the miles would be good for exchange to someone else's miles. I'd love to be able to use my AL miles to combine with AA or UA.
