In my experience, the wifi's performance does NOT seem to be correlated with passenger loads, time of day, day of week, etc.
yes & yes IME, I was once on a night flight with 35 passengers to the midwest once and it was non existent at times.
Great at the gate & for iPhone texting though if free with AL+ but I would never pay now for it haven fallen from grace...
