Frankly, I'm surprised to hear that someone who's trying to decide between the O&O Palmilla, and the St. Regis Punta Mita is that sensitive to the rate. Palmilla tends to be around $700-900 a night, but Cabo has quite a few really nice places that are about half that much. Especially if you're not looking for golf or a fishing trip on site.

One example would be the newly opened The Cape, which has been getting great reviews and is currently on a deal through Jetsetter, but it is by no means the only luxury boutique in the Cabo area for $350-500 a night:
