Latin used to be a part of regular high-school curriculum in Europe until WWII. and an absolute standard among educated people those days. Latin was mandatory even longer. I still had in the middle 50s in what we called Gymnasium at the time.Served me very well at University. Maybe that's what caused my initial problems with Qantas. It's just so unusual, although I now understand the origin of it and do not misspell it any longer..
