Looking to book a Business flight for 2 from Auckland to YUL. I see two options:
1) SYD - YUL or BNE - YUL are available with AC. Excellent schedule, acceptable connection in YVR (4h) and great taxes (about $200 CAD for two)
2) Auckland to SFO and SFO-YUL: low taxes and great schedule, except I never find it. I suspect United releases it a couple of weeks before the flight. So I'll keep an eye on it
To secure option 1, thinking about a flight AKL - BNE or AKL - SYD with Air New Zealand. Anyone had any luck booking it? Or any other options with acceptable connections? Don't find lots of flights from AKL. Thanks!
Are you looking for an award flight? In business class that can be hard. Very limited options New Zealand to Canada. Trans Tasman fares can be cheap so also look for from Australia to USA/Canada. More options Australia to USA. Many people trying for trans Pacific businesses class awards. However last year I got an AKL-SFO-SEA on AirNZ/UA using UA ff miles about 6 weeks before travel.
If you find availability just take it. If you do not some else will.
Real taxes on award flight are the same for all airlines for the same route and class. There are cash surcharges on award flights with some ffp’s/routes/airlines. Award surcharge can/are different. A surcharge can trigger additional real taxes if the flight changes from a non revenue flight to a revenue flight. Do not be taken as a fool by the airline by assuming
