The reason I was looking at first is that Y with two bags was practically the same price so I may as well get a free Gin and Tonic out of it !
Depending on how cumbersome your bags are, you could potentially fly Southwest from SAT-DAL for less than $100, pay no bag fees, save enough for multiple G&T's and take DART (public transit) to DFW - Terminal A.
I have NOT done this before but it appears you can fly into DAL, take a dedicated bus from the terminal to the DART Inwood/Love Field station (departs every 15 minutes), then buy a ticket for $2.50 to get you from the Inwood/Love Field station to DFW Terminal A. Google Maps suggests this would take an hour....you'd then have to take an intraterminal bus to Terminal D so you'd have to factor in a little more time. Seems to me like this would be more hassle than it's worth but the option is there. You could also uber from DAL-DFW from between $25-$100 depending on level of service.
