I personally like 1A and 1K for the feeling of detachment and isolation from the rest of the cabin. That works well on most planes. However, if you want to be next to your partner and talk easily, they are too far apart for your comfort and that of the rest of the cabin. That is where the rear centre pairs come into their own, at the loss of the window.
On celebrities, I was once on a lightly loaded CE flight in 1A when a former newspaper editor and at that time chat show host boarded (let's call him PM) and took 1F. Obviously BA decided that seat was good enough as I wasn't booted out of 1A. The rest of the front row seats remained empty.
Throughout the flight the service I received was impeccable. I was addressed by name at every juncture, my every need was attended to, and the service standard was strictly followed front to back, left to right, so I was always served first. Let us say this level of service wasn't extended to the rest of the row.
I did think they may have got the celebs the wrong way round, but as they constantly addressed me by name perhaps not ....
