We recently stayed at the San Jose Fairmont booked using the Chase Luxury Travel portal which includes a $50 food/drink credit and breakfast for 2. These 2 benefits were acknowledged upon check-in and we were told to go to the Fountain Restaurant the next morning to get complimentary continental breakfast. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were told that they didn't have a continental breakfast. The waitstaff were very confused and we never got an answer. We only spent about $50 so I'm not sure how this would have been resolved. I'm wondering if anyone has come across this problem and how it was addressed as our next 4 stays at the SJ property are with these benefits. Obviously I'll ask them upon our next check-in, but it seems odd that the front desk would offer a free item that doesn't exist.
You'd need to contact Chase to find out since each program (Chase, Virtuoso, AMEX FHR, Travel Leaders Select etc.) negotiates these benefits separately and even at the same property, the amenities may differ between different programs (e.g. at the same hotel guests booked via Virtuoso may get full breakfast while guests booked via AMEX FHR may only get continental breakfast)
