Very true. It almost seems like we are talking about two airlines. PM's not being able to upgrade on Y/B/M fares. Others having less than 30% success rate on ANY fare. And still others, like your wife, 95% on LUT fares.
I realize the upgrade opportunity depends on a lot of factors but this inconsistency is hard to get a grip on.
