Congrats to you and your wife. We've also put off a lot of Carribean/Latin American travel over the last 18 months due to Zika concerns. Now we just found out we're pregnant with twins. Oh boy.....

I wont comment on the destination as you have a lot of good feedback already. But as a parent i'll share that I strongly disagree with trying to travel between October and mid January.

Your pediatrician wont even allow your child to travel until he/she is 8 weeks old so that puts you into mid-December. Now you have a 4 week window. Also, with a child who wont be sleeping through the night yet, you're really going to have a rough vacation unless you're leaving them at home or bringing a nanny with you.

Traveling before they're 1 is actually great since they'll usually sleep through most of the flight. But trying to plan a trip before 3 months is ill-advised imho.
