The tradeoff will be travel insurance which will, unless you have an expensive "full replacement" policy, only pay out "fair market value" vs. K2 which provides something new and close.

Fair market value on an older bag will not come close to replacement cost, but does allow you to purchase whatever you want.

Before making this choice, I would do the research and make certain that what you had is still available with the interior dimensions. If it is not, the decision has been made for you.
