OT: Looks like CUPE to paralyze Vancouver (probably to expand to BC)

The HEU strike in Vancouver seems to be getting more and more support as the first week of strike comes to an end.

Members of CUPE in Vancouver has walked off the job on Friday morning (30APR).

Municipal Golf Courses, garbage collection, public libraries and street cleaning in the City of Vancouver has been suspended.

BC Hydro (Terasen - sp?) also walked off the job, service calls affected.

Burnaby Works Yard, Burns bog, the Vancouver South Transfer station also saw barricades set up.

At BC Ferries, 7am sailing from Swartz Bay Terminal was cancelled, creating fears that the BC Ferries has also joined the protest.

It appears pickets may go up at lower mainland schools starting Monday. Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey are being advised to set "alternatives" from schools.

Members of the Hotel, Restaurant & Culinary Employees Union Local 40 have joined the pickets. That local has over 10-thousand members, including employees at Hastings Race Track and GM Place, and several hotels and restaurants across Vancouver.

According to a secret document (claimed by the small business), the BC Federation of Labour plans to paralyze entire Vancouver, with possible transit strike on monday, and blockades at government office on Tuesday.
