Anytime I've prepaid for fuel, the authorisation sometimes adjusts immediately, but it always posts with the exact amount charged, (whether or not the receipt says "Refund"). It doesn't actually perform a refund transaction. This is regardless of card entry method. EMV at the pump in Canada also posts the exact amount.
This particular Shell doesn't look to have updated the authorization, however, since the total available credit still seems higher than it should be. Too bad Diners Club stopped showing pending authorizations on their website.
