I do not have any status with United or * Alliance.
on my way back journey, I tried SQ and LH lounges at Delhi Airport and both let me in with UA Club membership card and boarding pass, also I have no problem accessing ANA club at Narita with UA membership card.

so hopefully AI and other similar Airlines where communication and training are lacking....
