SW Companion Pass requalify: wait 24 months after Chase card is CLOSED??

Hey guys,
I'm hoping someone has had experience with this same issue and can pass along their wisdom. Here my specifics which I'll try to keep brief:

- Was approved for Chase SW Plus and SW Plus Business cards in Dec 2014
- Earned bonus points by Feb 28, 2015 billing cycle (100k points due to sign up promotions with the Chase cards)
- Companion pass status earned by April 2015, just expired Dec 31, 2016.
- I am aware of the Chase 5/24 rule AND am well within those limits
- Credit score in high 700s, have so far no been denied a credit card I've applied for (also have Ink, Sapphire Reserve cards plus my mortgage is thru Chase)
- I know that your SW cards must be closed before you can reapply

Here's my situation:
- CP status expired at the end of Dec and I wanted to earn status again through card sign up
- Called Chase to talk to customer service rep and figure out when I earned my first big SW point bonus as it wasn't clear from RR account or Chase statements and I wanted to make sure I waited to apply once the 24 month limit had expired
** Chase rep I spoke to mentioned that if I was thinking about signing up for a new SW card, it must be 24 months from when the bonus was first earned AND the card must be closed for 24 months

Has anyone else recently tried to apply and received the same message?! The part about the card needing to be closed for 24 months is the surprise. I called the customer service number listed on my SW Plus card so I'm not sure if this rule only applies to Plus cards but not to my Business card? (if so, I could sign up for the Business & Premier cards and possibly earn CP) Otherwise it looks like I'll have to wait 24 months before I can earn another Companion Pass.

Would really love advice on this before I apply and have a hard pull on my credit score if I'm not going to be able to earn the 100k bonus anyways. Many thanks in advance!
