The hotel I stay with has started keying in Green Choice points at arrival - but it depends on which rep you get. I always put the sign out on my door as a reminder.
They credit me for each night prior to checkout, which includes the night of arrival.

Don't rely on any of the paper tickets/handouts/signs they give out, always make sure that the rep at checkout knows how many nights you qualified for and wanted to use Green Choice.
