I asked exact same question 1st time I booked business class . Cant believe they charge . Expect it for economy and prem econ . I can book 7 days out as im lowly bronze which suits me .

You can book 24 hours to flying . I kept an eye on the seats and all seats upstairs were taken but 24 hours out only 1 was taken so dont believe the seat map .
