Tripods and flying - EasyJet.

A few years ago (like 9), my other half flew on Ryanair from Stansted. Security confiscated his tripod because it could have been used as a weapon.
He had previously checked with Ryanair that they would allow it which they said they would, but unfortunately security thought otherwise.

We are flying on Friday 10 Feb from LGW on Easyjet.
Does anyone have experience of flying with a tripod? What to do / not do?

Its a carbon fibre one that collapses to less than the height of a cabin bag.

Cheers
