I used Uber last time I was in Taiwan, and it was very convenient - fast, reasonably priced, and no issues communicating where to go (I do speak Mandarin, but it still is much easier if driver has destination ready on a map).
I tried their taxi and it was ok, but having to grab one at an arbitrary location and then explain where to go is just a bit tedious.
In this case, having Uber available was part of the consideration when booking hotel (not too far from the airport, but there is no reasonable transportation from anywhere to the airport except taxi or Uber). Clearly Uber is illegal - it can't be legal to compete with taxi extortion..ahem...lawful increased fares at the airport, that lacks convenient transportation options
- What kind of prices does Uber black charge in TW?
- What taxi apps are there? If I use one - will it also tell the driver where I want to go?
