Is there some reason you cannot use a reputable UK-based agent?
Two reasons spring to mind:
1. Changes/cancellations - the agent can add an unnecessary layer of complexity/expense, even if the airline is the reason for the change or cancellation rather than the passenger.
2. You can't upgrade mixed-metal agent bookings using avios, you can if booked with BA directly (but not BA holidays).
