Coffee, Wine, and Cocktails in Italy (Merged Thread)
Aside from espresso and cappuccino, how else do Italians prepare coffee?
"Briefly (and there are books about it): cappuccino is a breakfast drink and after noon one only drinks espresso (that may or may not be macchiato, either freddo or caldo, depending on whether you want a dash of cold or steamed milk on top), though there is sometimes decaf or orzo for those who cannot take the caffeine. Also note that if you order the Starbuck beverage "latte" you will get a glass of steamed milk. And a marocchino is a sort of hot chocolate. In some places you can get a caffe corretto with a shot of grappa tossed in.
What's the equivalent of brewed coffee in Italy? I normally just drink plain brewed with a teaspoon of sugar.
cafe americano is the closest you'll get."
