Your reservation number doesn't change from the one that you used to book the claim. My understanding from the wiki is that you must have an existing reservation to make a claim. Did you not?
If the hotel shows no availability, but a 3rd party website does, you submit the claim without a reservation and the BRG team contacts the hotel to make the reservation for you. It's been a week since my claim was approved and I don't want to nag anyone at Starwood about it (yet), I just wanted to see how long it took for others to get their reservations confirmed.
