However, all websites I found used € instead of USD.

I think 9 USD per night is quite a big difference, but they don't seem to care.
Could somebody please PM me a suggestion where to look instead?
Seems like the only reason to get the claim approved is by pointing them to a competing website that uses USD...
Looks like you might be just below the 2.5% required. Per the wiki:
Differing currencies
• "The Best Rate Guarantee department will approve a claim if there is a difference of 2.5% or greater where the currencies are different or a difference of 1% or greater if the currencies are the same."
