Learn from my mistake...
On the return, if you check a bag it will go to the lone carousel in the lower level of the International Terminal outside security. You need to ride the Plane Train to Terminal F and exit security. You cannot re-enter the secure area or ride the Plane Train, so if your car is at the North or South Terminal, you will need to ride a shuttle bus back to that side of the airport.
It wasn't until I got to South Baggage Claim, looked up at the board that I realized Canada is International. At that point, I got my car, having left from that side of the airport at the start of the week, drove to the International Terminal, parked and got my checked bag.
Also, the signage in YYZ is bad. DL is in Terminal 3, and Pre-Check is at the far end of the terminal. If you were facing the check-in counters from the kiosks, Pre-Check is against the end wall to your right.
