Starting to notice...Domestics are much more difficult to come by...
I was able to use RPUs to upgrade HNL routes last year, but I believe a lot of people picked up the upgrade options or just purchased the HNL F fares, especially on EWR/ORD/IAH/IAD-HNL routes this year. I looked at the dates far out. Almost 80% of the cabin was booked already with EWR/IAD-HNL routes. Very difficult to see R inventories around.
One of my flights, IAH-SFO in a 787 tomorrow, has the upgrade list of 50 people deep. I booked the flights pretty late, so I didn't even think of getting the upgrade unless I am paying for the last seat in the 3.5hour flight for $450USD.
I received the first ever op-up in the UA system, HKG-SIN this year, but I believe I wouldn't be able to clear a lot of domestic trips this year.
