I would say that many of the affected people are those most likely to have internet access no matter where they are, because many of them are young people on student visas. Remember, many semester-based colleges don't start until late January through late February, so there are tons of kids who went home to visit family over winter break and can't return.
I'm glad I teach at a college on the quarter system so I don't have to deal with my students getting screwed over. If DL can post as much info as is presently known, so should AA. It's not really any different than a weather issue, in the sense that we know what we know right now, and we have to make plans that may or may not stand.
