Take-off, with Eiffel Tower in the distance:
After take-off, menus were distributed - all Air Europa branded.
As was the amenity kit:
A decent selection of meals and liquor, friendly crew working our aisle, lie-flat seat - what else could you ask for? Considering this was for 700 EUR - wow!
The entertainment system had a limited selection, but was quite reliable and easy to use.
The seat was not nearly as comfortable as herringbone or reverse herringbone seats, and certainly also worse than the common staggered configuration. As noted above, usually it is used by second-tier or lower-cost airlines. The seat was very short, I could not stretch out entirely. The set-up with the higher seat at the window and lower one at the aisle was logical, providing a better exit in case you did not know your seat companion. I would not like to have someone next to me, however.
My other significant complaint is the height of the footwell - I really like having an ottoman but in the seated position it was very high, too high for comfortable use.
Finally, the tray table could only be extended when in the fully upright (take-off) position - akin to eating in economy class.
