I've been a HHonors member since 1987 - over 1,000 nights. I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've been given a nice upgrade without asking.
There are a bunch of posts on this forum saying - they know who you are, no need to ask, tell them or show a card. Whatever - on the RARE occasion I would like an upgrade as I'm on vacation with my wife, it's taken a bit of very nice persuasion with a manager to get it done - I've never .....ed and moaned or complained about how important I am. As a result, I've ended up with some of the most fantastic rooms and suites across the globe.
There is no way I can point out an individual property as it all depends on the staff.
