Most everyone I know who is a UA Plat or higher ( both on FT and those who are not FT members) has instruments that will expire on Feb 1.

Personally I think UA should give some RDM or some other gesture of goodwill to all of us who have instruments which will expire, especially after trying multiple times to use them to no avail.
I really think UA should change their advertising or the program. At the moment a naive reader would assume they'll get 2 free guaranteed upgrades, when there's no such thing.

I'm not too sure what they should do for plat, 2 upgrades isn't much - but for 1k they could easily give you the choice of 6 old-school GPUs, or 3 any-fare GPUs, or 2 guaranteed (W+?) GPUs. For plat maybe 2 old-school RPUs, or 1 guaranteed RPU.

Yes that's a cost to UA - but isn't that the whole point of loyalty programs: give away a little to get consistent income from a given customer? If we can't get a free lunch (actually usable upgrades), then there's not much point in giving UA a free lunch (customer "loyalty").
