As the OP of this thread back in 2014, I was the first to post successful GUC usage at the start of this fantastic new program! I remember calling Delta via Skype from Europe - THRILLED - to be able to upgrade my return trip! . Now, the GUC program is about to enter its fourth year!

Sincerely then, there have been MANY success stories, and of course, some failures, but, overall, I think most DMs are ecstatic about this new program! I can never forget, under the old SWU system, how MANY posts here, of people griping that they bought up to M fares at outrageous amounts of money to be able to use an SWU with the HOPE that their UG would clear. Then, on the day of travel, flights were going out with empty seats up front or employees, because UG inventory was never released. Now, GUC wait lists are cleared with all remaining seats!.....(when all goes well).

That said, allowing DMs to UG to Delta's most VALUABLE seats from the LOWEST fares, doesn't seem to have hurt profits!

So, MANY thanks to Delta for the GUC program, and CONGRATS to the many success stories posted here! Hopefully, Delta will improve the program with enhancements like being able to check UG inventory online, or at least on other paid services, so we don't have to call, and call, and call, tying up phone agents' time.

DMs: Keep on posting your stories and thoughts!

DT

PS: I'm totally jaded now. Since the advent of GUCs, I haven't flown over the Atlantic or Pacific in Y! I actually bought my first EVER premium cabin ticket for my trip to TXL last November when I found a cheap Z fare «$1600~» and saved my last 2 GUCs for a more expensive trip!
