Oh it gets worse: had the OP travelled on the same AS/AA flight for perhaps a similar cost but under a BA codeshare instead, s/he would have got TPs and Avios. Now this fits an underlying narrative that hardy FTers would murmur "yes of course" but to Joe Public it must be a complete mystery.
