First post, so please be gentle!

I recently flew into the US from London on BA, during which I needed to take an additional domestic flight. I specifically chose an AA flight on the assumption I would get tier points, but when attempting to claim them I get the following message from the Exec club (see attached screenie).

So are only certain AA flights given tier points? or did BA get this wrong? Thanks!
