Boeing 777-300 (code: 773)

Configuration: 44 Business / 50 Premium Economy / 244 Economy

The first 777-300 will be delivered in mid December 2010, and will replace the 747s as they arrive.

Business Premier Class
* Capacity............44 Seats (layout 1-2-1). Direct aisle access for all.
* Seat Pitch..........Fully lie-flat (with improved comfort mattress surface.
* Seat Recline.......Fully flat (Bed Length 79.5" - 202cm)
* Seat Width.........22" (33" at shoulder level when reclined)
* Toilets...............2 mid-cabin (with windows!), 1 forward of cabin
* Laptop Power.....Available - most international plugs accepted. USB and iPOD connections available.
* Bassinets ..........9A, 9K.
* IFE ....................Personal 12.1" (30.7cm) touchscreen with Audio/Video On Demand technology.

Best/Worst Seats:
Due to the design of the seats, they all have the same amount of recline, personal space, etc. That said, here are a few pointers..

* Please note that the 2 seats in the middle of the cabin (B and J seats) are angled away from each other at 90 degrees, and are separated by a solid partition. They are NOT suitable for couples travelling together.

* General consensus is that the best idea for couples travelling together is to book seats directly behind each other, rather than across the aisle (ie, 3A and 4A rather than 3A and 3B) It's easier to communicate with each other over the partition, rather than having to shout across the aisle, although you do get a better view of each other from across the aisle.

Row 7A and 7K may be best seats for privacy, as they're at the rear of the cabin. There are toilets and galley behind, so there may be some noise during the night. Row 1 may get some noise or light from the galley during the night. Row 9 is the bassinet row, so there may be babies present. Row 9 is also used for other special category passengers, so a higher risk of being 'bumped'. 9A is the riskiest as it also has the medical power point and oxygen concentrator seating. Row 12 has the Premium Economy bassinet row directly behind, so these are probably less desirable.

Pacific Premier (Economy Plus) Class
* Capacity............50 Seats (layout 2-2-2)
* Seat Pitch..........N/A ("SpaceSeat" shell design). Beanbag used as footrest.
* Seat Recline.......Moves within its own space to similar to 9" (23cm)
* Seat Width.........20" (50.8cm) between armrests. Individual armrest for each seat, centre seat has centre console for individual armrest of 5.5" at narrowest point to 10" at widest - or combine armrests for one large shared space of 11-20".
* Toilets...............Two rear of cabin.
* Laptop Power.....Available - most international plugs accepted. USB and iPOD connections available.
* Bassinets ..........Row 12 (all seats in this row)
* Exit Rows: ..........N/A
* IFE ....................Personal 10.6" (27cm) touchscreen with Audio/Video On Demand technology.

Best/Worst Seats:

Row 12 is the bassinet row and directly behind the last row of Business Premier (which will be curtained off during the flight). Row 31-32 only have the centre block of 2 seats present, but the toilets are adjacent on either side. Row 32 is also used for special category passengers so a higher risk of reseating. 23-29DE are eligible seats for Wheelchair passengers, a slightly higher risk of reseating if you choose these seats. 23B and 23J will not be able to use the inflight entertainment during taxi, takeoff, landing as the screens must be stowed.

Economy Class

NOTE: Air NZ offers an exclusive and patented 'Skycouch' in Economy. Customers can purchase a block of three seats that have a 2 position legrest at each seat (60 and 90 degrees) that fold out to create a 'couch' of 5'1". See www.futuretakingflight.com for more details.

* Capacity............244 Seats (layout 3-4-3)
* Seat Pitch..........33" (83.8cm)
* Seat Recline.......6" (15.2cm)
* Seat Width.........17.1" (43.4cm)
* Toilets...............2 mid-cabin, 4 rear of cabin
* Laptop Power.....Available, with USB and iPod connections.
* Bassinets ..........Rows 35 (DE/FG) & Row 48 (all seats)
* SkyCouch..........Rows 37-46ABC/HJK
* Exit Rows: ..........Row 34
* IFE ....................Personal 10.6" (26.9cm) touchscreen with Audio/Video On Demand technology.

Best/Worst Seats:
34AB/JK: Exit row seats in block of 2 rather than 3. Unlimited legroom. BEAR IN MIND: IFE at these seats will not be available during taxi, takeoff, landing as the screen must be stowed.
35AB/HK: Blocks of 2 rather than 3, although bassinet position is adjancent.
36C/H: No seat in front, so legroom should be unlimited. BEAR IN MIND: IFE at these seats will not be available during taxi, takeoff, landing as the screen must be stowed.
48C/H: BEAR IN MIND: IFE at these seats will not be available during taxi, takeoff, landing as the screen must be stowed.
47ABC/HJK: Have an extra inch of seat pitch.
57-59AB/HK: Blocks of 2 rather than 3.

All other things being equal, the following are the seats which are used for passengers of various special requirements (Unaccompanied kids, deportees, oxygen machine users, etc.) You have a greater risk of being 'bumped' from these seats than other regular seats. Row 48 all seats, Row 35DEFG, 57-59JK, 36A, 49A, 58B, 57-59AB.
