Boeing 747-400 Refit (code: 74R/744/747)

All 747s in the fleet have now been refitted. They currently operate AKL-HKG-LHR, some AKL-LAX services, and certain Tasman flights.

Configuration: 46 J / 39 Y+ / 294 Y, 14 cabin crew, 2-4 pilots (dependent on route)

__________________________________________

Business Premier Class
* Capacity............46 Seats (layout 1-1 (nose/upper deck) 1-2-1 (B zone)
* Seat Pitch..........Fully lie-flat
* Seat Recline.......Fully lie-flat 6 feet 7.5 inches
* Seat Width.........22" (33" at shoulder level when reclined)
* Toilets...............2 rear of cabin (upper deck) 2 mid-cabin (lower deck)
* Laptop Power.....Available - most international plugs accepted
* Bassinets ..........Row 16 (upper deck) & Row 10 (lower deck)
* IFE ....................Personal 10.4" video screen with Audio/Video On Demand technology.
Best/Worst Seats:
Due to the design of the seats, they all have the same amount of recline, personal space, etc. That said, here are a few pointers..

Row 1 (1A/1K) For couples traveling together, 1A and 1K are close together due to being in the nose of the aircraft (the ottomans are almost touching).

Rows 1-7 are in the old First Class section (in the nose) and some travelers have reported a quieter, more exclusive feeling. Row 6 and 7 may be affected by galley noise.

Rows 16-20 are on the upper deck, which results in less engine noise and 'intimate' feel but crew will be accessing flight deck during the night which may cause light disturbance. Premium Economy is also on upper deck, located behind Business.

Pacific Premier (Economy Plus) Class
* Capacity ............39 Seats (layout 3-2 upper deck, 2-bulkhead lower deck)
* Seat Pitch ..........39-40"
* Seat Recline .......9"
* Seat Width .........18.5"
* Toilets ...............2 rear of cabin UD, forward of cabin LD
* Laptop Power .....Available - most international plugs accepted
* Bassinets ..........Lower Deck - 27A
* IFE ....................Personal 8.4" screen with Audio/Video On Demand technology.
Best/Worst Seats:
Row 23 on the Upper Deck is the 'best in house' due to unlimited legroom (emergency exit door is in front) The J/K seats all have 40" pitch, the ABC seats all have 39" pitch except 27ABC, which have 38".

Some passengers like the Lower Deck cabin as it is completely isolated from Business and Economy cabins by bulkheads and curtains (some refer to it as having the atmosphere of a private jet). Note however the Lower Deck does have the bassinet row for families. Of the two Lower Deck cabins, the LEFT cabin (A&C seats) is probably the best - the right cabin (H&K seats) also hosts the entrance to the Flight Manager's office and cart elevator, which is used frequently during the night.

Pacific Economy Class
* Capacity ............294 Seats
* Seat Pitch ..........86cm (34") - Most
* Seat Recline .......6"
* Seat Width .........17"
* Toilets ...............4 adjacent Row 43, 6 at rear of cabin
* Laptop Power .....None
* Bassinets ..........Rows 35, 45, & 58
* Overwing Rows: .Rows 32-47
* Exit Rows: ..........Rows 31, 43, & 53
* IFE ....................Personal 8.4" screen with Audio/Video On Demand technology.

Best/Worst Seats:
36ABC/HJK: Directly behind the curved Pacific Premier bulkhead and have increased legroom.
43ABC/HJK: Exit row, but near toilets. A and K seat legroom impeded by emergency slide pack.
53ABC/HJK: Exit Row, but close to galley which is manned constantly during the night and there will be noise/light. A and K seat legroom impeded by emergency slide pack.
65-67BC&HJ: These seats are right at the rear of the aircraft. Due to the tapering fuselage, there's no 'A' and 'K' seats, which means you have a row of 2 to yourself, and a nice recess between the window and seat to store your stuff. Row 65BC also has the biggest seat pitch in Economy Class, by all of 0.8"! (excluding exit rows)

All Economy Class seats have 34" seat pitch, apart from the following:
48-52HJK (33")
58-60HJK (32")
51-67HJK (33")
54-55ABC (33")
65BC (34.8")
Meal Service:
Usually commences at Row 31 and works down to Row 52, then jumps to Row 68 (rear) and works back up to Row 53. If many passengers miss the first meal choice the second meal service may be done in reverse.
