I've been to a number of travel doctors over the years, often about Southeast Asia, and not once has one of them recommended a malaria prophylaxis for Thailand, unless I was planning to travel to jungle forest areas.

Like Hawes7701 said, dengue is a much bigger concern and the only thing you can do about that is avoid mosquitoes. Though it seems like there may be progress on a vaccine for that one.
