I remember seeing a billboard on a main road in Berlin a couple of years ago. It was right across from a train station and a (Turkish) snack bar. I have forgotten what the billboard was flogging, probably cigarettes or underwear but nothing lascivious, and it featured a (very good-looking) young man lying on a mat showing full-frontal nudity. No one seemed to mind or even pay the billboard much attention, including the Innocent Children snacking on Doners, and I certainly saw no parent forcing children to face away from the street while munching away. Of course we'd never see something like this in the prudish United States, but if you happened to come out of the station with your 14-year old daughter and popped into the snackbar for a bite and only then saw the billboard, what would you do? Demand that it be removed? Ask for protective curtains in the snackbar? Leave? Have a hissy fit? Shield the pure eyes of your daughter from shameful human nudity? I just wonder.
