I've stayed here multiple times.
Location - Amazing - tons of places to walk to in terms of restaurants and nightlife.
The rooms and simple but clean. Try to avoid one that has the Jacuzzi in the floor lol - unless you really want that.

Overall i choose to stay here over the grander hotels on Reforma for a reason.. i like walking around.

Otherwise, uber is cheap and plentiful. I have not taken a taxi in mexico city in my last 6 visits. This avoids your spanish problem as well.
You can use uber from the airport as well - You simply specify the "Peurta" (door exist number) when you exit the terminal.
