Funny you should mention that. On Monday, as well as Tuesday and Wednesday, and Sunday, I'll mostly be a tourist in the Boston area. I'll probably check out Blue Man Group again, spend half a day at the Museum, maybe do the Cape Cod/Newport thing, and just generally take it easy. I'll need to make my way up to Portland, ME for Thursday.
I'll be getting my regular 8 hours pay, a car, hotel room, meal allowance and extra field pay (though field pay won't be quite as much as if I were actually working.)
I'll work Thursday, though the job probably won't take me a full 8 hours. Given the short work day, I'll probably make my way back to Boston, overnight, then fly home on Friday. And given that it'll likely take me well over 8 hours for the trip, not only will I get paid to sit in the seat, I'll be earning overtime as well (and travel pay, and meal allowance.)
Must be a union job or a dumb employer!!! Tell your customer he's paying for that as well!!!
Or you had another job in the area and it was cheaper to keep you there rather than travel is a likely scenario.
