You can book an award seat for flights 356 days from today. So you should try and get it as soon as your dates are open for booking.
The problem is that the only AC flights that will be available will be the one with Executive class (domestic business class, so not the nice spacious ones). UA's flights to HNL are all domestic first class too, the service is as
NewToCanada described. I believe you can only book 330 days in advance for UA.
If you fly on AC, there's a chance you might get an aircraft with the big business class seats between Toronto and Vancouver (as you will have to connect in Vancouver before going onto Hawaii).
