I would vote definitely for the Pioneer Square hotel. (Our absolute favorite hotel in Seattle.) Just check the two neighbourhoods. Actually there is NOTHING around the Needle. (It is sketchier.)
On the other hand Pioneer Square is walking distance from literally hundred of restaurants, dozens of museums. Pike Place Market - should I say anything more? You do not need any taxi cab even in late night.
We are going there in two weeks - would not go to the Needle even for half a price. (We are foodies as well as like museums.) Needle is overrated. (Both the view and the restaurant. The monorail is a rail to nowhere.)
