The deal with BA

is that they have the rule about 6kg and 12kg for over water flights. They can enforce it at any time. Flights within Europe are enforced most of the time. BA people have a way of causing embarrassment on this issue that is hard to forget!

Our recent experience included a 'nothing with wheels' announcement. Also in the weight they included books and other reading material and what we would call a 'personal item'.

You are much more likely to have a rollaboard checked if a lot of folks on the flight have carry ons that obviously wouldn't hold up to being checked. That is plastic bags and even straw baskets.

I always manage to be within the weight limits, but really would benefit from being able to use a small roller bag. Just can't risk it with BA.
