Finally the system won't let you check in if OLCI BP won't be accepted (China) OR will let you checkin, but tell you that you must have it verified before using it (Ala SIN departures require you getting it "verified" which means they ask the stupid security questions and in the end issue you a new BP anyway)
By asking that question, I was wondering about whether AF would issue a mobile BP for the CDG-ATL leg. I doubt they would -- IME, they haven't.
There have also been times on an AF/DL itinerary where I can OLCI, but not get an mobile boarding pass, which is what I thought OP was referring to. Because I agree with the other point as I've experienced that situation.
