Since you never received a bonus you shouldn't have to wait the full 24 months. But I'm not sure what Chase would say if you applied again now. Have you opened 5 or more cards w/in the last 24 months, with any bank (including the Freedom you just canceled)? If so, you won't be approved until you drop below 5/24.
