You could also use points if you transferred them to Starwood to stay at the Westin Villas at Ka'anapali. It has studio 1 and 2 bedrooms, is kid friendly and is right on a great beach. All rooms also have washers and dryers, which may be an advantage with kids. I personally think that there is more to do around Lahaina/ Ka'anapali than Wailea. If you don't want a kitchen the actual Westin Maui, also in Ka'anapali has a great kid's pool. waterslide etc, is on the beach and is right next to Whaler's Village where you can eat from beach restaurant to fast food as you wish.
