Thanks OSUbeaver, did you fly into Terminal 2 in Jose Marti? I found a thread on Tripadvisor with a recent Alaska passenger who also did not have much of a problem with waiting at immigration, as she said Terminal 2 is far less busy than the newer international Terminal 3. She also said the upgrade process was not functional and there were multiple seats open in first. Wondering if the FA's are given a passenger list with status listed on it - would they process the upgrades themselves once in the air, as they've done on some of my trips in the past? Seems like a long flight to take in a middle coach seat.
I'm not sure which terminal number it was that we flew in and out of, but the only other US carrier I noticed in the departure lounge was a Southwest Airlines flight.
The flight attendants on the flight didn't have a list of the elite members, so you just had to let them know if you qualified for free digiplayers, etc. The flight attendant did come move someone up to first class, but they didn't have any list to go off of (I think they may have just picked someone who was complaining loudly about their seat).
