Trust me I did. The post may seem like just a couple of things but the time and labor involved going back and forth on sites, trying different combinations, entering information again and again because Cathay wipes them out.


That alipay system really sucks. For my ex China booking on CX.com, I've had my card processed by CC company, but CC haven't received confirmation back from CX. This is usually the case with Ex China fares on CX.com. therefore I usually call in. But calling in, won't be entitled 2x bonus on CX AMEX card and they must charge HKD. The CX exchange rate was actually a few percent cheaper than the CC exchange rate. Of course using a no forex card won't be an issue and you would still be entitled to the airline bonus on the CC.
Yes, I think China may make Cathay do it this way (based on my experience in China), but yes, it is horrid.
