Yes. 241s require BA metal.

That's one why I wrote that I don't bother with them any more.

By forcing you on to BA metal, you suffer:

1. The fee for the card
2. UK APD - except for INV and JER!
3. BA high fees/surcharges/taxes whatever you want to call them, even on airlines that don't rip you off like AA!
4. BA Avios rates higher than going direct to Iberia for Iberia flights.

(I have left off using IB for non-IB flights because of the bad cancellation policy)

So for OP, who has two 241s, I can see he will want to use them.

But, bizarrely, once you crunch the numbers, you (or he) is almost as best using them for unusual flights like RFS to Moscow in F .

He did ask was a USA trip a good use of them.....my answer, not really!

Overall, to use a 241 you have to pay a fee to get it, and then pay more in high fees and charges! So it is not a 241!
